Herschelle Gibbs blasts Temba Bavuma after South Africa skipper injures hamstring | IND vs SA 1st Test

Former South Africa great Herschelle Gibbs tore into Temba Bavuma after the Proteas skipper injured his left hamstring on Day 1 of the India vs South Africa 1st Test in Centurion.

Gibbs took to social media platform X (formerly Twitter) and wrote, 'Ironic that the coach allows some players who are clearly unfit and overweight to play when he started off as proteas trainer in 2009.'

Targeting Bavuma, Gibbs took a dig at Rob Walter, who is South Africa's coach in the Test format. was the strength and conditioning trainer for the Protas in 2009.

After picking up the injury, Bavuma was taken for scans, which revealed a left hamstring strain. The skipper will undergo daily medical evaluations to determine his participation in the 1st Test.
