The Senior Men's Selection Committee on Thursday picked squads for the upcoming India tour of South Africa.

In an expected move, seniors Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli did not feature in the two separate squads named for the T20Is and ODIs.

The BCCI released a statement later giving the reasons behind their omission.

It said that Sharma and Kohli have requested the Board for a break from the white-ball leg of the tour.

Meanwhile, India's star pacer Mohammed Shami has only been named in the Test squad.

Without specifying anything, the Board revealed that the 33-year-old is undergoing medical treatment and his availability will be subject to fitness.
