Former India cricketer Vinod Kambli booked for allegedly assaulting wife

Mumbai police have booked former India cricketer Vinod Kambli for allegedly hitting his wife Andrea Hewitt on the head under the influence of alcohol. 

Andrea lodged an FIR in a Bandra police station late on Friday night.

In a statement to police, Andrea said that Kambli threw the broken handle of a cooking pan at her, causing injuries to her head.

Kambli's wife who went to Bhabha hospital for examination further stated that the 51-year-old also tried to hit her with a bat but she managed to wrest it out of his hands. 

As per the police, no arrest has been made so far in connection with the alleged incident.
