The hard-hitting England opener Jason Roy has been fined 2,500 pounds and handed a two-match ban by the England and Wales Cricket Board for bringing disrepute to the game of cricket.

Roy acknowledged "conducting himself in a manner that may be harmful to the interests of cricket or which may bring the game of cricket, the ECB, and himself into disrepute," according to the ECB statement.
'
"His ban is for the next two England matches for which he is eligible for selection, but it is suspended for 12 months, depending on his good behaviour," the England board's statement further added.

However, the details about the exact nature of Roy's disciplinary breach were not disclosed by the English board.

31-year-old Roy is currently on a "short indefinite break" from cricket after he withdrew from the 15th edition of the Indian Premier League, citing bubble fatigue. Gujarat Titans bought Jason Roy for Rs 2 crore during IPL 2022 Mega Auction.
