The England women's cricket team defeated India by 38 runs in the first T20I at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
Having opted to bowl first, India found themselves in the ascendancy early on, with Renuka Thakur getting rid of Sophia Dunkley and Alice Capsey in the very first over.
But Dani Wyatt and Nat Sciver then took the attack to India once the ball stopped swinging around. The duo snatched the initiative away from India with a sensational 138-run partnership that came off just 87 deliveries.
Even as India managed to take a few wickets towards the end, Amy Jones' finish propelled England to a monumental 197.
In reply, India could never really stitch together a partnership of real substance. While Shafali Varma top-scored with 52, others around her couldn't contribute in a big way as the Women in Blue finished with 159/6.
