Amid the rejig in England coaching set-up after the Ashes debacle, the English cricket board appointed Paul Collingwood as the interim head coach of the national team for the Test series in West Indies.

Assistant coach Collingwood would take over from Chris Silverwood, who resigned last week.

45-year-old Collingwood was touring with the England T20 side in West Indies and is on a break in Barbados.

In an ECB statement, the former England all-rounder said that he can't wait to get the job started and is excited to coach the test team for the tour of the Caribbean.

The first of the three-match test between England and the West Indies will be played at Antigua from March 1.
