After an entire day of confusion over Punjab Kings' accidental buy at the IPL 2024 auction, the franchise has cleared the air.

Reports under circulation claimed that Preity Zinta and Ness Wadia's team had wrongly bought a player called Shashank Singh.

This after a video from the IPL auction showed the Punjab Kings asking the auctioneer to take back a player but could not as the deal had been finalised.

On December 21, the Punjab-based team came clean and said, 'Shashank Singh was always on our target list. The confusion was due to 2 players of the same name being on the list.'

They added that they were delighted to have him onboard.

The newly-signed Shashank Singh has previously played for Sunrisers Hyderabad in the 2022 season and was released before the 2023 auction.

The other Shashank in question is a 19-year-old who is yet to make his first-class debut.
