The legendary Australian pacer Glenn McGrath has tested positive for Covid-19 days before the Pink Test, which is held in honour of his late wife Jane, who died of breast cancer, and serves as a fundraiser for patients suffering from the disease.

The third day of the New Year Test is observed as Jane McGrath Day but the former Aussie pacer is unlikely to recover before that. However, McGrath will be virtually present when both teams are awarded their pink caps.

Australia has already retained the Ashes after taking an unassailable 3-0 lead in the five-match series. The fourth Test will be played at the Sydney Cricket Ground from January 5.
