Asia Cup: Sri Lanka retain hosting rights but tournament to be played in UAE

The Asian Cricket Council have confirmed the change in the venue of Asia Cup from Sri Lanka to the UAE.

The Council also confirmed the dates of the tournament. The Asia Cup, as expected, will be played from August 27, with the final set to take place on September 11.

ACC President Jay Shah in a statement said that every effort was made to host the Asia Cup in Sri Lanka and while the venue has now been changed, Sri Lankan Cricket retains the hosting rights for the much-awaited event.

The tournament will feature 6 teams, with the five Test playing nations - India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka & Afghanistan earning direct entry while UAE, Kuwait, Hong Kong & Singapore will fight it out for the final spot.
