Ahead of the 4th Ashes Test, Australia suffered a heavy blow as Travis Head has tested positive for Covid-19, informed Cricket Australia on Friday.

Head's positive report came after routine PCR testing and he is asymptomatic, the board informed, adding that he will be isolated for 7 days in Melbourne itself as per Victorian guidelines. Australia expects that the 28-year-old cricketer who will miss the 4th Test will play the Hobart Test. He is the first player to contract the disease among both the squads.

The Australian squad has now delayed their flight to Sydney where the 4th Test match is scheduled to begin from Jan 5th as they are hurriedly looking for replacements. As per reports, Mitchell Marsh, Nic Maddison, and Josh Inglis have been called up for coverage in case of further positive cases.

With both camps having infected persons, concerns hover over the continuation of the Ashes series.
