England survived the last hour of play on Day 4 without any hiccup as they aim to chase a mammoth 388-run target on Day 5 of the 4th Ashes Test at Sydney Cricket Ground.

At Stumps on Day 4, England were 30-0, needing 358 runs more runs to win.

Earlier, England were knocked over for 294 runs in the morning, after adding only 36 runs in their overnight score. The English bowlers came out all guns blazing in the second innings, and at one point in time, Australia were reduced to 86-4.

But the first innings centurion Usman Khawaja and all-rounder Cameron Green ensured that the Australian innings did not slip further as the duo put up a 176-run stand for the fifth wicket. Khawaja remained unbeaten on 101 while Green departed for 74. The Australian captain Pat Cummins did not wait much longer after Green and Carey fell on successive deliveries and declared at 265-6.

While chasing 388, England openers Zak Crawley and Haseeb Hameed remained unbeaten at the close of play on Day 4.

The visitors need to score 358 runs more on the final day in a bid to avoid their fourth successive defeat in the ongoing Ashes series.
