After India's defeat in the first T20I against South Africa, former Indian fast bowler Ashish Nehra felt that India could have chosen Arshdeep Singh in the place of Avesh Khan. However, having played Avesh in the first encounter, Nehra conceded that India should now stick to the same combination for the next two games.

The Gujarat Titans head coach said that Arshdeep Singh would have been his first choice but India should now continue with Avesh unless there is a drastic change in conditions.

Punjab Kings bowler Arshdeep took 10 wickets in 14 matches in IPL 2022 and he had the second-best death-overs economy rate (7.58) of any bowler with at least 8 overs in the season.

The former Indian player further added, “India should learn from the defeat in the first game and move to the second one without panicking much."
