Former cricketer AB de Villiers is confident that Sanju Samson will perform well in India's upcoming ODI series against South Africa. Despite not being part of the World Cup 2023 squad, Samson is set to make his comeback for the 50-over series against the Proteas.

ABD commended Samson's technique on his YouTube channel and said, 'It’s great to see him in the team. He will enjoy the South African wickets. He stands tall when he bats. There’s a bit of bounce and movement and all the batters will be tested. But someone like Sanju, I think, will do well. And he also gives you an option with the gloves.'

Sanju Samson, who made his ODI debut in 2021, has experienced fluctuations in his presence in the team. With 13 ODIs in his career, Samson boasts 390 runs at an impressive average of 55.71 and a strike rate of 104. His track record includes three half-centuries, with a top score of 86 not out.

The ODI series between India and South Africa is set to kick off on Sunday at the New Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg on December 17. Subsequent matches will take place at St George's Park in Gqeberha on December 19 and Boland Park in Paarl on December 21.
