Suryakumar Yadav's magnificent 117-run knock went in vain as England edged India out by 17 runs in the 3rd and final T20I at Trent Bridge on Sunday. The Men In Blue, however, clinched the three-match series 2-1.

Chasing a mammoth 216-run target, opener Rishabh Pant went back to the pavilion for just one run. The visitors then lost Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma in quick succession.

Against the run of play, Suryakumar and Shreyas Iyer stitched together a 119-run stand for the 4th wicket. After the dismissal of Iyer, Surya continued to find the boundaries despite wickets tumbling at the other end.

His maiden T20I ton though wasn't enough for India to cross the finish line as the visitors fell short by just 17 runs, which ended captain Rohit Sharma's 14-match winning streak.

Earlier, India lacked the experience of Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Jasprit Bumrah upfront as Dawid Malan and Liam Livingstone shared an entertaining 84-run stand for the 4th wicket. Malan's sublime 77 off 39 balls helped England post a mammoth 215/7.
