It was raining Gold for the Indian wrestlers on Friday!

And Deepak Punia, the 23-year-old from Jhajjar district in Haryana, was also busy making history in Birmingham.

Punia won the Gold medal in the Men’s 86 kg category. He defeated the defending Champion, Pakistan’s Muhammad Inam to clinch the top spot.

The 2019 World Championships Silver medalist, who lost out on the Olympic Bronze medal in Tokyo last year by a whisker, ensured he didn’t commit the same mistakes in Birmingham.

And on his debut at the Commonwealth Games, he was crowned Champion!
