New Delhi, Aug 26 (PTI) — Central Delhi Kings clinched a spot in the play-offs of the Delhi Premier League (DPL) with a dominant 104-run victory over Purani Dilli 6, as per the DLS method, in a rain-curtailed encounter.
Batting first, the Kings set a commanding foundation with an imposing total of 197/5 in just 18 overs.
Despite the early departure of wicketkeeper Kaushal Suman for just 5 runs off 7 deliveries, opener Yash Dhull exhibited his excellent form by anchoring the innings with a graceful half-century. Partnering with Yugal Saini (28 off 20), the duo managed a steady 57-run stand before being dismissed.
Skipper Jonty Sidhu contributed 28 off 16 balls, while Aditya Bhandari added 17 off 11, ensuring the scoreboard continued to tick over.
However, the true highlight was Aryan Rana’s explosive unbeaten 42 off a mere 14 balls, a knock laden with powerful shots that elevated the Kings to a formidable score. For Purani Dilli 6, Rajneesh Dadar was the pick of the bowlers with figures of 3/40 from his four overs.
In response, Purani Dilli 6 struggled to gain ground against the disciplined Kings bowling attack. Money Grewal and Arun Pundir dealt early blows, dismissing Rushal Saini for zero and Samarth Seth, while skipper Vansh Bedi’s short-lived cameo of 14 off 6 balls was cut short by Pundir.
With the scoreboard reading 44/3 in six overs, rain halted proceedings and subsequently revised the target to 174 off 15 overs. Yet, the pause did little to resurrect Dilli 6’s faltering chase.
