Hosur (Tamil Nadu), Jul 16 (PTI) — Amandeep Drall set an impressive pace with a stellar 3-under 69, securing a two-stroke lead after the first round of the ninth Leg of the Women's Pro Golf Tour at Clover Greens on Wednesday.

Despite two late bogeys on the 16th and 17th holes, Amandeep maintained her advantage over seasoned players Neha Tripathi and Seher Atwal, who each posted a score of 1-under 71.

Additionally, five competitors—Vidhatri Urs, Anaggha Venkatesh, Jasmine Shekar, Sneha Singh, and Jahaanvie Walia—posted even-par 72 scores, placing them in tied fourth position.

Amandeep, with one victory in her previous eight starts this season, was even par after seven holes, offsetting an early birdie on the second with a bogey on the sixth. However, she gained momentum with four consecutive birdies from the eighth to the twelfth hole, and an additional birdie on the 15th brought her to 5-under. Despite two bogeys lowering her score to 3-under, she held onto the lead.

Neha Tripathi had a strong middle game, achieving four birdies from the ninth to the twelfth holes, complemented by another birdie, balanced against four bogeys.

Seher Atwal’s round included four birdies against three bogeys, with three of those bogeys occurring between the ninth and twelfth holes.

Among amateurs, Saanvi Somu led with a score of 73, featuring one of three eagles on the Par-5 second hole. Saanvi’s performance included an eagle, a birdie, two bogeys, and a double bogey.

Karishma Govind and amateur Ayushi Dutta also achieved eagles on the same Par-5 second hole.

Saanvi was tied for ninth alongside Kriti Chowhan and Lavanya Jadon, who also shot rounds of 73. Four other players, including the experienced Ridhima Dilawari, Gauri Karhade, Durga Nittur, and Anvvi Dahhiya, were tied for 12th with scores of 74.

Order of Merit leader and four-time season winner, Vani Kapoor, faced challenges, finishing at 3-over 75. Her round included three birdies, four bogeys, and a double bogey, placing her tied for 16th, eight shots behind leading contender and friend Amandeep.
