Covid-19 maybe linked to mental decline equivalent to the brain ageing 10 years in a worst case scenario, a new research has suggested.
The study, which has not been peer reviewed yet, was led by a doctor at Imperial College London and studied over 84,000 people.
It reiterates that infection may have chronic cognitive consequences. They observed significant cognitive deficits in those who had recovered from the contagious infection.
The cognitive decline was seen specifically among those who had been hospitalised with Covid-19.The study, did however have some drawbacks, since researchers did not compare scores with those before Covid-19. Further research is needed to ascertain the findings.
