Thousands of farmers are camping on the streets in Haryana's Sirsa after their talks with the district administration failed on Saturday.
The BJP-led government has arrested 5 farmers and booked 100 others for sedition and attempt to murder over an attack on Haryana Assembly Deputy Speaker Ranbir Gangwa’s car on July 11.
Protesting farmers on Saturday breached barricades and marched towards the headquarters of the district administration to initiate a dialogue.
The 90-minute talk failed and farmers blocked the Sirsa-Barnala highway and Prajapati Chowk.
Farmers allege that the arrests and chargers are Manohar Lal Khattar government's tactic to prevent them from marching towards the Parliament on July 22.
The administration has beefed up the security to prevent the protesters from reaching Sirsa SP’s office, police headquarters and residences of ministers.
Over 10,000 personnel, Rapid Action Force and paramilitary forces have been deployed along with 30 checkpoints to check the agitation.
