Sherin Mathew case: adoptive father pleads guilty to lesser charge

An Indian-American father, accused of killing his three-year-old adopted daughter, has pleaded guilty to a lesser charge. 39-year-old Wesley Mathews has been charged with the murder of his special needs adoptive daughter, Sherin Mathew, in October 2017. The lesser charge comes with a lighter possible sentence. The story made headlines when Shirin's body was found in a culvert outside their home. Wesley and his wife, both from Kerala, had adopted Sherin from an orphanage in Bihar in 2016. The trial is set to begin at a Dallas district court.
