Scientists from the Hubrecht Institute in Utrecht in Netherlands, have grown miniature tear glands that are capable of crying in the lab!

These artificial tear glands can help scientists study why these glands produce tears or fail to do so. With time, these organoids could also be used as transplants for those whose tear glands don't function properly.

For this experiment, researchers used 'organoid technology to grow miniature versions of mouse and human tear glands in a dish'. They were then able to make these glands cry.
