The Supreme Court on Monday rejected fugitive businessmen Vijay Mallya's review petition against his 2017 conviction in a contempt case.
A bench of Justice UU Lalit and Justice Ashok Bhushan pronounced the judgment upholding the May 9, 2017, order on a plea by a consortium of banks led by the State Bank of India (SBI). The plea claimed that Mallya had allegedly transferred USD 40 million received from British firm Diageo to his children in "flagrant violation" of various judicial orders.
