Rohit Sharma replaces Virat Kohli as India's ODI skipper

Rohit Sharma has replaced Virat Kohli as the new ODI captain, announced BCCI on late Wednesday. The prolific Indian cricketer who was recently appointed as the T20I captain as well will take over the captaincy duties from the upcoming South Africa tour that begins on 26th December. However, India will first play the 3 match Test series where Virat continues as the leader and then the 3 match ODI series starting 19th January.

BCCI also announced an 18 member squad for the Test series in SA. Cheteshwar Pujara, Hanuma Vihari and Ajinkya Rahane whose inclusions were doubtful have been named in the list alongside Ishant Sharma and Mohd Shami. Rishabh Pant who was absent from the NZ series will also return.
