The Supreme Court has dismissed the review petition filed against the Shaheen Bagh judgment in which it is held that the demonstrations expressing dissent have to be in designated places alone. Dismissing the review petition, a 3-judge bench held that the right to protest cannot be anytime and everywhere. Twelve activists had filed a review petition on the last year ruling of the Supreme Court terming the anti-citizenship law protests held at Shaheen Bagh to be illegal. The court reiterated that public places cannot be occupied for protests and that public protests must be "in designated areas alone".
