The anti-Taliban resistance force in Afghanistan's Panjshir has said it will continue fighting after the Taliban said they had captured the area.

The National Resistance Front said it was present in "strategic positions" across the valley, adding "the struggle against the Taliban and their partners will continue".

The statement came after Taliban on Monday said that its fighters had completely captured Panjshir, the last province to hold out against the armed group.

There are also reports that the Taliban has rejected resistance leader Ahmad Massoud's offer of ceasefire and withdrawal of troops made on Sunday night.
