Passenger vehicle sales rose 17% in the second quarter of current financial year, according to the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers. Over 7 lakh 26 thousand units were sold in the July-September quarter up from over 6 lakh and 20 thousand units sold during the same period last year. However, commercial vehicle sales came in at 1,33,524 units registering a de-growth of 20 per cent, SIAM data showed. Car sales in the July-September period rose 16%, while two wheelers saw a marginal rise in sales in the second quarter over the same period last year.
