Qatar, where the 2022 FIFA World Cup is set to take place starting November 21st could ask for full vaccinations for participants against Covid-19, suggests a report in The Athletic.
A FIFA spokesperson told the sports website that in light of the pandemic, Qatar will provide the safeguards required to protect the health and safety of all involved in the competition. He also said that the participants will have to follow the guidelines issued by Qatar's ministry of public health. While as per Qatar's guidelines many top players might face a ban for not being fully vaccinated, reports also suggest that for such cases the Qatari authorities might come up with the alternative option of regular Covid-19 tests.
As per reports, several footballers have not been jabbed. For this, Newcastle United manager Steve Bruce cites 'conspiracy theories' as a major reason.
