Protesters gathered on Saturday in Brisbane, Australia to protest against coronavirus lockdown measures imposed in Melbourne.

The demonstration was part of several taking place across the country in cities including Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth.

"Australian government hear our voice, where there's risk there must be choice," read banners being carried by protesters.

The Melbourne restrictions, including a night curfew, were put in place in an attempt to reduce a huge spike in infections and deaths.

Victoria reported 11 more deaths and 76 new infections on Saturday

Government officials were expected to announce on Sunday how and when Melbourne and regional Victoria will come out of respective stages of lockdowns.

Police in Victoria state made several arrests on Saturday among a crowd of about 300 people protesting the lockdown in Melbourne, as the country's death toll rose to 748.
