On the 37th anniversary of Operation Bluestar, pro-Khalistan slogans were raised at the Golden Temple in Amritsar on Sunday.

A large congregation of young people gathered to commemorate the day. Supporters of the Shiromani Akali Dal(Mann) led by former MP Simarjeet Singh Mann were seen raising slogans and holding placards that had 'Khalistan Zindabad' written over it at the Akal Takht.

Describing the Army operation as the 'da ghallughara of 84' or the holocaust of 84, Jathedar Akal Takht Gyani Harpreet Singh asked the Sikh community to maintain unity.

He further said that the sikh community will always remember the unhealed wounds of Operation Bluestar, which he said 'was comparable to a war between 2 nations'

Operation Bluestar was carried out in June 1984 to seize the militants and their leader Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale.
