The Supreme Court has agreed to hear a plea seeking a special investigation into the Pegasus snooping controversy. Chief Justice NV Ramana on Friday said that the petition may be heard next week depending on the work load.
Senior journalists N Ram and Sashi Kumar had sought a Special Investigation Team headed by a sitting or a former judge into the snooping allegations.
Reports that Pegasus spyware was used to hack into the phones of politicians, journalists, activists and government have triggered a massive outcry and demand for probe.
Opposition has been stalling Parliament for two weeks now over the issue. The government has rubbished the reports and has denied any role in the Pegasus snooping scandal.
