BMW is set to hike the prices of its range of cars and SUVs by up to 3.5 per cent from April 1, 2022. This is BMW's first price hike for 2022 though the carmaker, as per media reports, had hiked prices of select cars in their line-up since the start of the year. The carmaker joins Audi which too is set to hike prices by up to 3 per cent from April 1. BMW says that the hike in pricing has been necessitated owing to material and logistics costs along with fluctuations in exchange rates and the current geopolitical situation. Price hikes have become common in the auto industry especially around the time of the start of the new year – both calendar and financial. With up to 50 per cent of localisation, the German auto giant assembles the 2 Series Gran Coupe, 3 Series, 3 Series Gran limousine, 5 Series, 6 Series GT, the X1, X3, X4 and X5 SUVs at its plant in Tamil Nadu. The carmaker has an equally extensive range of CBU offerings.
