A reusable menstrual hygiene product, menstrual cups have become a popular trend over the last couple of years. Shaped like a funnel, they are small cups made of rubber or silicone that one needs to insert into the vagina to collect period fluid.

These leak-proof silicone cups can hold the period blood for around 6-10 hours at once, and being reusable, they are a great eco-friendly alternative to sanitary pads and tampons. Also, it cuts back a lot on the monthly period product expenditure and we're definitely not complaining about that!

Menstrual cups need to be handled with utmost importance in order to maintain hygiene. One should always wash hands before and after inserting or removing the cup. Apart from washing hands, it is also essential to wash the cup with water every time before insertion. And at the end of the cycle, sanitize the cup by boiling it in water for 2-4 minutes.

However, we understand that many people are still hesitant to make this transition as there are several myths and taboos which surround the cups. So we've got a Reproductive Health Scientist to help you out.
