Singapore has issued a rebuttal after Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kerjiwal urged Centre to stop flights to the country and claimed that a 'Singapore variant' of the novel coronavirus could cause a third wave in India.
The statement by Singapore's health ministry did not directly refer to Kejriwal but alluded to news reports about the CM's statement and said that there is no Singapore variant.
It went on to add that the strain that is prevalent in many of Covid-19 cases in Singapore in the past weeks is the B.1.617.2 variant which originated in India.
