No homework, lighter school bags: HRD Ministry tells schools

In good news for students and parents, the Department of School Education under the HRD ministry has reportedly issued a circular to all states and Union Territories, setting a weight limit on school bags. The maximum weight of school bags for students of Classes 1 and 2 can be 1.5 kg, for Classes 3 to 5, it should not exceed 2-3 kg and a maximum of 5 kg for Class 10. Schools also have to ensure, that no homework is assigned to students in Classes 1 and 2.
