Swiss tennis legend Roger Federer on Tuesday announced his decision to pull out of the Tokyo Olympics, days after being named in the Switzerland Olympics squad.

Federer explained that he was forced to take this decision as he unfortunately experienced a setback with his knee during the current season.

The 20-time Grand Slam champion was selected for Tokyo Olympics 2020 in what would have been his third Olympic Games.

Federer had returned to action earlier this year after missing out on most of 2020 due to multiple knee surgeries.
