Former New Zealand all-rounder Chris Cairns suffered paralysis in his legs. His lawyer confirmed that during a life-saving heart surgery in Australia, Chris suffered a stroke in his spine and remains in a serious condition.
51-year-old Cairns collapsed after suffering an aortic dissection, described as a tear in the inner layer of the body’s main artery, while on a visit to Australia’s capital Canberra a couple of weeks ago. After the surgery, Cairns' condition was described as "serious but stable" on August 11.
Cairns has played 62 Tests, 215 ODIs and 2 T20I for New Zealand between 1989 and 2006.
