New Guinea's 'Singing dog', believed to have gone extinct 50 years ago has recently been spottedd by scientists in Indonesia!
The species is known for its high-pitched barks and howls.
It was also believed that this rare species only exists in captivity, until researchers compared the DNA of canines observed in the wild back in 2018. They revealed that the New Guinea singing dog is the predecessor of the Highland Wild Dogs.
Experts believe that there are only about 300 currently living in conversation centers and have not been in the wild since the 1970s.
