Mysuru: Student gangraped, boyfriend beaten, accused still absconding

In a gruesome incident in Karnataka's Mysuru, a college student was gangraped and her boyfriend was thrashed on Tuesday evening.

Police said that a group of men surrounded the couple in the Chamundi Hills area and demanded money. When they refused, the men gangraped the girl and attacked her boyfriend.

The state government has formed a special investigation team to nab the accused who are still on the run while the couple is recovering in a hospital.

As the outrage over the incident grew, state home minister Araga Jnanendra said that he has directed the state police chief to ensure swift action in the case.

Chamundi Hills is a forest area that is a popular tourist spot outside Mysuru and has the famous Sri Chamundeswari Temple.
