Most Indians unaware that they're living with hypertension

According to a new large-scale study, most Indian adults are unaware that they suffer from hypertension. Researchers from five global instituitions including the Harvard TH Chan School of Public Health and the Public Health Foundation of India (PHFI) analysed date of over 7 lakh individuals from the National Health and Family Survey. The study found that only 3 out of 4 adults suffering from hypertension have got their blood pressure measured. Out of this, only 45% individuals got diagnosed and only 8% had their BP under control. The study also indicates that the awareness level was lowest in Chhattisgarh and highest in Puducherry.
