Amid debate over pros and cons of mixing Covid vaccines, Serum Institute chairman Cyrus Poonawalla has opposed the idea.
There is no need to mix the doses, Poonawalla said, adding that if some thing goes wrong then there could be a blame game between the makers of the two vaccines.
"Serum will say that the other vaccine as not good and the other vaccine company will blame Serum," he cautioned.
India's drug regulator had recently approved a study on mixing of Covid-19 vaccines - Covaxin and Covishield — to be tested on 300 healthy volunteers.
Poonawalla also heaped lavish praises on the central government and the drug regulators for their support the pharma companies in coming out with Covid vaccines.
He said that one of the major reasons Serum could launch Covid vaccine so quickly was due to forthcoming grants, permission, encouragement to industries & considerably reduced licensing raj. "We've a drug controller who responds even after office hours," he added.
