Militant involved in J&K civilian killings gunned down in Pulwama

A militant involved in the recent civilian killings in Srinagar was gunned down in an encounter with security forces in Pulwama district of Jammu and Kashmir on Friday, police said.

Security forces received information about the presence of militants in the Wahibug area of Pulwama, following which a cordon and search operation there, they said.

The slain ultra, identified as Shahid Bashir Sheikh, was involved in the killing of Mohammad Shafi Dar on October 2, according to the J&K police. 

Meanwhile, another encounter broke out in the Bemina area of Srinagar on Friday evening in which a militant was killed. 

Kashmir IGP Vijay Kumar said that 8 encounters have taken place since the attack on civilians and 11 militants have been killed so far.
