Creating a price record, a painting by late Indian artist MF Hussain has been sold for Rs. 18.5cr at an online auction making the artwork titled Voices, the highest-priced work by Hussain to be sold in a public domain sale.
The oil-on-canvas piece was painted by the late artist in 1958 and was part of a private collection until now. It went under the hammer for the first time, along with 36 more artworks by MF during a 2-day auction by AstaGuru.
Maqbool Fida Husain, a pioneer of modern art in India, died in 2011.
