Meghalaya: Operations to rescue 15 miners halted for now

Hope is fading for the 15 miners trapped at an illegal rat-hole mine in Meghalaya’s East Jaintia Hills since December 13. Search and rescue operations have been halted for now as the rescue teams have been unable to pump out water from the mine due to unavailability of powerful pumps. NDRF and district administration have been waiting for the pumps for last three days. So far there has been no contact with the trapped miners.
