Massive fire at Surat factory kills 2, 125 people rescued

At least 2 people have been killed after a massive fire broke out at a packaging factory in Surat's Kadodara area in the early hours of Monday. Around 10 fire tenders were rushed to the spot.

A video from the blaze-engulfed factory posted by news agency ANI showed a group of people standing on the roof of the building as they called for help. Around 125 people were rescued with more than 100 people being pulled out from the factory by hydraulic lift.

The fire started on the unit's first floor and soon spread to other floors, according to fire officials.  The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained.
