Markets weekly: Sensex, Nifty register 1st weekly gains in June

Markets on Friday ended its 3-week losing streak registering its first gains in a month. The Sensex closed 0.5% up for the week to close at 39,394 while the Nifty was up nearly 0.6% to settle at 11,789. However, the Nifty fell 1.1% for the month, the biggest since October 2018. Midcap index snapped its 3-day gaining streak along with Nifty Bank which ended 164 points lower dragged by HDFC Bank and ICICI Bank. The ratio of the number of shares tiltedin favour of sellers.
