The number of Maoists killed in an encounter with security forces in Chhattisgarh's Baster over the weekend could be between 12 and 20, the Hindustan Times has reported quoting home ministry and CRPF officials.

Reports from the ground suggest that the extremists used grenade launchers in the ambush that claimed the lives of at least 22 security personnel.
Chhattisgarh CM Bhupesh Baghel on Sunday said that as per his reports, Naxals had ferried their killed and injured cadres in four tractors from the encounter site. "It can be assessed from the information that security forces have inflicted a heavy blow on them," he added.
