Panic after gas leak from Thane factory, locals report breathing problems

A gas leak from a factory in Badlapur city of Thane district in Maharashtra was reported on Thursday.

A video of the incident, released by news agency ANI showed air filled with fumes with people coughing and running for cover.

The gas leak, which took place around 10:22 pm on Thursday, created panic as people living around the unit faced difficulty breathing and irritation in the eyes for a few hours, an official said on Friday. However, no casualties have been reported so far.

According to the Thane Municipal Corporation, the gas leak was stopped by the fire brigade around midnight.
