Commonwealth Games 2022 HIGHLIGHTS:
India's Bindyarani Devi raised her game to secure a silver in the women's 55kg category, providing the country's fourth weightlifting medal in as many categories at the Commonwealth Games 2022 on Saturday night.
Soon after Mirabai Chanu's gold, the 23-year-old created a Games record by lifting 116kg in the clean and jerk after a personal best of 86kg in the snatch section, totalling 202 kg on Saturday.
Earlier, male weightlifters opened India's account on the medal tally on Day 2 at Birmingham 2022 before Mirabai Chanu won the first Gold for India.
Gururaja Poojary won India's second medal. He clinched Bronze in 61-kg category. While Weightlifter Sanket Mahadev Sargar made India proud on Day 2 as he won India's first medal in Birmingham. He won Silver in 55-kg category.
In other events, Indian shuttlers defeated Sri Lanka in the mixed team event to qualify for the knockout stage. The women's hockey team continued their winning run and defeated Wales 3-1 in their second Pool A match.

Indian women's team continued their winning run in Commonwealth Games 2022. They defeated Wales 3-1 in Pool A match. Vandana Katariya scored a brace while Gurjit Kaur found the net once.

14-year-old Anahat Singh crashes out of women's singles in squash. She lost in 4 games to Wales' Emily Whitlock in the Round of 32.
Lovlina Borgohain wins her Round of 16 match against New Zealand's Ariane NICHOLSON. She wins the match by unanimous decision. She advances to the quarterfinals.
In Game 5 against Ying, Reeth Tennison pulls off a stunning comeback, going from 8-5 down to 8-all.
The Malaysian wins the following two points, but Tennison then raises the score to 9-10. But Ying wins the game 11-9 in the end.
Tennison was defeated by Ying, who collapses after helping her nation advance to the women's table tennis semifinals, 12-10, 8-11, 11-6, 9-11, and 9-11.
India's Table tennis women's team fail to defend their title and bow out of CWG 2022 with 2-3 defeat from Malaysia.
In a span of two minutes, India doubled the lead 2-0 against Wales. This time Gurjit Kaur is the goal-scorer.
India take 1-0 lead against Wales in the second quarter. Vandana KATARIYA is the goal-scorer for India.
The first game is won by Srikanth 21–14, but it wasn't as simple as it seemed. He is having a difficult time with Yin Xiang Lin.
Nothing separates India and Wales in the first quarter. However, India puts quite a few chances in the first quarter but Wales' Goalkeeper has been exceptional and denied India opportunites to take the lead.
Reeth Rishya kept her composure and put up an outstanding performance in the third game to take a 2-1 lead in the match. (12-10 8-11 11-6). India would advance to the semifinals with a victory in either of the remaining two games.
Olympic medallist Mirabai Chanu continues her stupendous run in the Commonwealth Games as she wins back-to-back second Gold in the competition.
She lifts 201 kg in total (Snatch+Clean and Jerk).

The Weightlifting 49-kg category competition is currently underway. Mirabai listed herself for an 80kg lift (maximum) in her first attempt. At the moment, Lifters with lesser kilogram attempts are in action.
Olympic Silver medallist Mirabai Chanu will be in action shortly. She will be eyeing to replicate her performance of 2018 Gold Coast performance today. She won Gold at 2018 Commonwealth Games.
Saurav Ghosal storms into the next round after he defeated Sri Lanka's Shamil Wakeel 11-4, 11-4, 11-6.
Joshana CHINAPPA storms into round of 16 with a 11-8, 11-9, 12-10 win over over Barbados' Meagan Best.
It was a gem of a clash with a couple of video referrals over fouls. But Indian veteran prevailed at the end.
After a silver and bronze today, India are currently 9th in the medal tally. Australia remain on top with 18 medals till now.
