Every year International Dog Day is celebrated on 26th August to remember the unwavering companionship and joy that dogs bring into our lives, honouring their loyalty and love. It's a day to recognize and appreciate our furry friends who truly are our best friends.
On this occasion let us introduce you to, 'Pawasana' - an organization that arranges yoga sessions with indie puppies from shelters and NGOs. Its founders, Annanya Nautiyal and Anwar Khan, care deeply about animals and want to help indie dogs and cats find loving homes. They started Pawasana because they noticed that it's hard to find homes and pay for the needs of these animals. Pawasana's main goal is to educate people about indie dogs and cats and tell them why adopting them is important. They want to stop people from judging dogs based on their breed and encourage kind and inclusive pet ownership. Pawasana currently works in big cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Jaipur, Gurugram, and Bengaluru, but hope to spread their wings to many other cities very soon.
Annanya started Pawasana as she loves dogs and wants to help them. Pawasana is not only about adopting dogs in shelters but also about taking care of the street dogs. Pawasana hosts unique Yoga sessions with Indie dogs and paint for a cause workshops featuring adorable Indie puppies from different shelters which are available for adoption. These workshops serve a dual purpose: raising awareness about these dogs and encouraging their adoption, while also contributing to the funding of various NGOs struggling to secure donations.
First, there's a video call to make sure everyone in the adopting family is ready. Then, they make you fill out a form to understand the family's needs. Pawasana or their partners visit the family's home to check if it's safe and good for the puppy. If everything looks good, the puppy gets a new loving home.
