Love chewing gums? Well, you might wanna stop after knowing what it’s made of. According to researches the most common ingredient of chewing gums is lanolin, an oily byproduct of sheep’s skin glands a greasy wax found in wool which is equivalent to human sebum. Lanolin is mostly used to create a gum’s base and then it is coated with softeners, sweeteners and flavorings which can be harmful and cause chronic diseases. 

A study in the journal Pediatric Neurology found that excessive gum-chewing can trigger headaches and other health issues in both children and adolescents. So, next time think before you pop that gum.
